Morning mel, reading your post reminds me about my time in the Royal Navy. I too had the ribbons for "undetected crime" Thats what we called them, we only had three.
When I was a young boy I was taken to Church, joined the bible class & Boys Brigade. There I was to learn about being a good citizen, a good Disciple & a good person.
When I grew & went off to sea some of these things I remembered & as I rose through the ranks I had a certain set of values, but every so often I was let down by self. Not That I was bad, but just disappointed in me. Then I found that the seed that was planted in me took root & grew, that was the start of my Christian life.
The point was that the seed was planted at an early age, was & is the basis of my life even now, as I am retired. From small acorns do mighty oak trees grow. I firmly believe that if I tell a lie, the truth will always come out, if I am not compassionate, how can I expect compassion (Grace). If I have not loyalty to my fellow man, how can I love my neighbour? But God's grace & love are undeserved, that took me a while to understand.
Life is not a bowl of cherries but without some simple ground rules, we would be like the devil, going around like a roaring tiger, looking to devour anyone in our path.
We do not have to seek troubles, it is how we deal with them that counts, I am a one of those who believe "That in my weakness, God's strength is made complete"
May you be richly blessed this and every day
In His Love Stuart

Within you is a desire to want to change people's lives. I bet, the way you have lived your life has already changed other lives. But, that's not enough. To me it sounds like you are searching for your purpose in God's kingdom and I think the coin is a wonderful idea. This deep rooted desire has been planted by God Himself, and as you water it, so it will become a reality.
Keep knocking, for the door WILL be opened and your eyes WILL see that which you were created for.
May you be blessed in all that you do.
