I get confused on these scriptues, for I don't know what God considers WICKEDNESS. I mean, I know WICKED people, that are self-centered, greedy, lustful, etc. There are those that intentionally harm others, or hate because they don't like their color, religion or sex. That, to me is wickedness. I turned away from drugs and do not drink any more. I don't lust and believe "WHOLE HEARTEDLY" in being true to my husband.

But, what to God is wicked? We are human and sin daily, even in the slightest way. Yet, we are forgiven if we repent and ask the Lord for forgiveness. So, what is wicked?

Wickedness is anything that is in opposition to God's will and purpose for our lives. Wickedness is the foundation for our sin. Wickedness is that part of our nature that seeks to do what seems right in our own eyes as opposed to doing what God's Word under the leadership of the Holy Spirit tells us we should do.

Thanks Mel for your ministry here. May God bless your faithfulness.

    2 Timothy 2:19 (NIV)

19Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

I think that this refers to the matter of choice. If we are born again, the Spirit will convict us of what is displeasing to the Lord, and then we decide what to do about it.

    God Bless

I agree with Bob and Lee. Wickedness is a frame of mind more than just the act. The act may be 'wicked' in our limited vision, but I can not judge you for what you do, because, unlike God, I can not see into your heart.

For example, it cuold be something like Turets [sp]Syndrome, where you may have no control. The swearing and cursing and foul noises are not a reflection of what is on the heart. I see that as a thorn in the flesh.

Likewise, an alchoholic may fail in abstinance form time to time. I would call him out if in his lack of judgement he went into a bar, knowing his condition and 'not intending to drink'. I would hopefully do this more as a caring doctor than a judge on a bench, but I may temper my approach for effect. And my actions themselves may be 'wicked' in the eyes of some. Hopefully, my heart is not.

Look at Romans Chapter 7, especially from verse 7 and on. Just read it quickly, even and the mesage is pretty clear. Study it further, and you will see finer points. Rejoice and be happy that you are not under that Law of Sin and Death!

    In Jesus Name,

    AMEN!
