    Hi Jon,
God is Love. 1John 4:7-8 -- Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. Verse 8 -- He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is LOVE.

1John 5:1-5 --WHOSOEVER believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. V2...By this we know that we love the childen of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. V3...For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. V4..For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
V5..Who is he that overcometh the world, but, he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

He/She that is borned again (saved) will love the saved and the unsaved. A mature Christian will love both, but those that are still growing in faith, are like babes, they still need milk and can't eat the strong meat.

The word says, love your enemy, bless and curse not. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

1John 4:20 --If a man say, I love God and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not is brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
V21...And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also...

At times Christians will get out of fellowship, with God, than the flesh takes over, we don't look at people with spiritual eyes, all we see is their faults and think they don't like me and I don't want to be around them. We than need to kneel at the feet of Jesus and ask Him to help us overcome these things....Even Christians can hurt us, but we have to be mature, and love them...(need to put away childish thinking) and grow up.....
We get knocked down, but God will lift us up..
God is Love, so we need to love everyone,(but we don't have to love their ways)just pray for them.
There are so many scriptures on love, a person could write and write.......

    God bless you and yours....
    With God Love,
    Lois J.

I think 1 Corinthians 13 gives the definition of love among believers. It is a pretty high standard.

To me, "brother" is all mankind. And I think that God breathed this specific scripture to give His children a reality check. If this scripture hits you in anyway, God can address any number of issues He needs you to work on.....

    Unforgiveness
    Hatred
    Revenge
Jealousy ...... to mention a few

It's God giving us a chance to correct it before further consequences come into play.

    Just my head rattling away.

    God bless

PS - when I say "you" I refer to all Christians

    Jon,

I agree with 1 Corinthians 13 being a high standard. I know people tend to focus on one or two aspects of that whole passage that is comfortable for them. Sorry to say, but if doing the comfortable parts of that (or any) scripture is all a person does, I remember here and there about 'even the unbelievers do this' as saying not to count that as much credit. Yet, don't give up and keep striving. I really think that is what is expected of us, to try, and give the rest to God... (neither of which is part of our 'fleshly desires')

    Blessings,

    Mel
