Hi, Mel. I noticed that no one had commented on this, even though it's been up a while. Perhaps that's because you made the argument so well that there's no need to elaborate.
God knows us inside and out, down to the subatomic level. He knows what choices we'll make, not because He's programmed us like some sort of robot, but simply because He's God and He knows everything.
That doesn't mean He's forcing us to make certain choices. If He were micromanaging our lives and the lifespan of our planet, sin never would have entered the world, Jesus wouldn't have had to die for us, and nothing bad would ever happen.
On the other hand, we'd never learn and grow; we'd just be marionettes made of flesh. Messy as it gets down here sometimes, I'm glad God allows us to make our own choices and learn from our mistakes. This way, we love Him because we want to, because we're grateful for what He does for us and who He is in our lives, not because we're "programmed" to do so.
Mel, as always, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. God bless!
