a little obscure? Ya know it's not mentioned anywhere else so it's a little tough to grasp sounds to me though like they were being baptised on behalf of those who had passed before doing so on their own kind of a crazy idea. sort of makes ya wonder what they viewed salvation to come from. The way I read it Paul is not condoning the practice. The LDS do this or something similar because you can't hold a high position in their cult unless everybody in the family has been baptised, so they will go back and baptise the dead somehow. Would'nt be surprised if you could view their baptismal records and find members of your family that are passed in their list. Crazy thing, but I guess when you strive to be a god many things are possible
    God bless

Foolish, maybe. That Paul is condemning this is not clear to me, otherwise it would not be so baffling. That it is not needed and silly, that is my belief, but does that make it so? If I were to make a judgement discerning this, I would compare it to one who thinks of there being meaning in eating meat offered to idols. Their understanding is weak, and for that reason, they cannot eat such meat. And for their sake, I should do no such thing in their presence if I am aware of the problem.

So I view this crazy idea. I don't see it as being needed, and yet I can understand that some might believe that God requires a Physical Baptism for someone to go to heaven. They from there might think that this was the answer for those who died believing but never baptized. Some take the covering and uncovering of heads during prayer for men and women quite litterally. There are strange ideas out there. If it does not oppose the Gospel of Christ, I must have a level of clarity to judge it as wrong. For me to judge it as wrong because it makes me uncomfortable, that is not enough. I cannot say it has reached that level for me yet.

So I must think and sit quiet on the subject, for the most part. I share my thoughts, but am not where I can make a discernment concerning this.

It is strange, and not something I would do. I'd like to understand this more.

    In Truth,

    Mel
