They do that here as well. I have not had the exact same experience as you. But, mine is similar. There is one man who sells at the corner in front of my work. The paper is $1. I give him a quarter every day, but take no paper. He knows my attitude is that he is working and worth this small wage, and even more if I could see clear to afford that. We talk about things at times. He also is trying to find real work, and I know specifics of his discouragement, because he is open and shares that with me. I know that he often leaves right after I get to work. I am like a timepiece it seems.
I may need to reach out differently. My timing is not something I am sure of. I am sometimes thinking I am waiting for him to ask the correct question. This is something for me to think about and ponder and pray for guidance on. I am not afraid for myself. But I must admit fear in damaging what is given to me here to reach one person.
You can give advice. A wise man was many counselors. It seems some wise man somewhere put that down in a book of Proverbs or something like that...
