Wonderful research here, Mel. Please don't think that my comments are arguements. We are discussing both sides of the same point.

That's fine. I am familiar with the Socratic Method. My wife had the experience of taking a long road trip with my mother and I. The discussion was about Bovine Growth Horomone, and centered not on the right and wrong of the matter, but basically how to deal with it. I don't think my wife ever wants to get stuck in the car with us on a long trip again!!!

And getting back to the point at hand. There is such a thing as judgement without condemnation. I am not a language scholar, so I take this on another's word, but there is more than one word that is roughly translated into 'judgement' in the bible. One is pertaining to the kind of judgement that a judge does. The other is the judgement that a doctor does. One we are supposed to do. One we are not. Which would casting a stone at a person to kill them be? Which would casting a person out of our fellowship so that his soul might be saved?

Love the sinner, hate the sin. I hear that a lot. Love sometimes forces one to make clear that something is wrong to another. I think we will come to terms at times, only by prayer and study and somewhere along the line by God, in his providince, giving us a clear answer, which may not be what we expect. I expect to be suprised. God's thoughts are as high above my thoughts as the Heaven is above the Earth. I could be shocked into finding that I really missed the boat, or was more like Jonah. He is Merciful. I should strive to be like him. He is Just. He is Wise. He is Powerful. (should I strive to be Powerful? -- only if by his pleasure and to give him greater glory!)

What other aspects of God are there for us to think on? What other examples has Christ given us to follow?

Rambling off into another subject probably,
