The message there is, of course, who God used to dedliver the most important message the world has ever heard. Shepherds were lowlifes, synonamous with liars, not even allowed to testify in courts. How angry the Pharisees must have been to hear of a messiah born to shepherds. This was the beginning of His rejection.

Really? I never knew that. That they were not highly esteemed, I would figure. So then, in Hebrew, 'Good Shepherd' must have been an Oxymoron...

they were loners didn't spend time with people they had to take care of the flock. ya do nothing but talk to sheep all day it does'nt get ya much respect. But if you look at it thats where their greatest king came from and then from his lineage our savior.
