I see no one is positive enough about this to answer it, so I'll just take a stab in the dark. Please seek professional answers from your church though.
Being baptized in the Spirit I think refers to being able to speak in tongues. In no way does it mean that you have to speak in tongues to be filled with the Spirit. To be filled with the Spirit is to have the Holy Spirit living within you. If you have the Holy Spirit within you, you just know that you are spirit filled.
Many people also believe that being able to speak in tongues is proof you have the Holy Spirit in you. I do not believe that you or anyone needs proof of that as your life and the way you are constantly changing should be the only proof needed. I think a christian should be happy enough just knowing that they are connected to God by the Holy Spirit He has put within us.

Please note that this is all in my personal opinion, and I request you seek information from your church.

    God Bless

My church is not giving me the answers I'm seeking, I know there's more to the bible then what their teaching. When I study the bible, I see things in a different light then my bible study class at church. The things they teach, is milk, (I love milk) (smiling), but I love meat too. The Holy Spirit is giving me meat to chew. That means a deeper knowing. I do speak in tongues in my private devotion only. I will keep searching for the answers to many of my questions.
    Thank you very much Lee!
    GOD BLESS YOU!

Being baptized with the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a hard question but here is my belief. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, three in one, the Triune God. When you ask for forgiveness and welcome Jesus into your heart, you also welcome God and the Holy Spirit, because these three are one. To me that is being baptized in the Spirit. Being filled is like on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down and the ones in the upper room began to speak with other tongues. This gave them the power that Jesus spoke about in Acts 1:8. Remember Peter, good old foot-in-the mouth Peter. He denied Jesus 3 times and yet when he received the power promised, he stood up before them boldly and proclaimed the word of the Lord and the Lord gave him 1000 souls for every time he denied him. Hope this helps some.

I want to thank eveyone for their input.
This is what a pastor gave me.

He says, we can not be gradully baptized in the Holy Ghost (Spirit) just as we can not be gradully filled with God's Spirit, but one day that filling will spill over into a baptism or complete immersion in the Holy Spirit. Many believe don't ask for this experience because they think they have received the Holy Spirit at conversion. He said, this is in a sense true, that the Holy Spirit comes upon us, and in us, to plant the seed of life in Christ, He said, it is not true that we are completely filled with His Spirit unless we ask for it.(Luke 11:13)
I searched and searched for this teaching, a long time and now my search is over.
This sound right to my Soul. (SMILING)
A lot of people asked me this question, and I couldn't answer them. Now I can. The scriptures he gave me was Matt. 3:11, Luke 11:13)

Thanks Lee and Jaycee! God Bless you both!
