Just decided to go with the Amplified Bible, because of the emphasis on the way we see things, which is not the way God sees things. May we pray to see this world with his eyes...

Amen, Mel! That's something I find myself praying regularly, not only to see the world the way God sees it, but to see my own life the way He sees it as well. It's so easy to get discouraged when life doesn't seem to be going the way you think it ought to, if you don't remember that God's view is from above the tapestry of your life, not below it as we usually see it.
The same concept holds for people, too. If we don't ask God to help us see them as He does, then we just react to the way they're acting, instead of taking into account what might be behind those actions.
That Golden Rule thing -- it holds as true now as it did the first time Jesus uttered it.
