I have just read your last three posts and I must thank you for bringing a very tasty dish to the table. I am very interested in the readings that you have been sharing. How great the Father's love for us and yet how small our understanding. I wonder... if we could grasp even the smallest portion and make it ours, how much our lives would be changed. Would we need to force ourselves into obedience, would we ever hesitate to tell of Him, would we ever be able to contain the joy?
I often question, as I look out over a congregation, what it is that keeps a bunch of redeemed people so contained. My conclusion is that they do not understand the death sentence that was on their heads and that they do not understand the love that pardoned them.
    Thanks Jon!

    In His Service,

This parable brings out a very important aspect of love, that of unconditional acceptance and forgiveness. But we must not forget that love is a broad subject with other facets to it such as accountability and discipline. Sometimes loving people means telling them what they need to hear, even when they don't really want to hear it. Love is patient and kind, and rejoices in the truth. Thanks for your thoughts!

Its always interesting to see how long it takes us to go from simply enjoying God's love to saying "Yeah, but we have to be good,"

Jon, this rattled around for a while and what you said about "Would you prefer to be a servant for a while, at least? If you would, too bad."

Yes, he is a son, but I strongly suspect, because of the attitude he had, that he will be a servant, in deed.

    In Christ,
