My understanding of this is that a very similar phrase was what a Rabbi would say to one who wished to be his disciple, once he choose to take him on and train him...

    Hello Mel,
I don't know about what you said above but I do like to see all the different scripture verses. That is how I study. I need to see 4 or 5 (or more) different versions. Always very interesting!
    God's blessings on you!

My two main impressions of fishing are that its peaceful and that it requires a lot of patience.

    Jon,

If you fish much, you will find that for many, the catching of the big fish, although that can be a big thrill, is not the point. The fishing itself is the end, not the means to an end.

    Mary Lou,

Yep. I like to look at differnt versions. I wish I could read the original writings and understand them in the literal and idomatic sense, but I won't plan on getting there. It might happen, but I don't plan for it. Multiple translations is my best hope to getting close. Thanks.

    In Christ,

    Mel

Fishers of men. What a profound statement. Are we as Gods children carring out Gods commandment? Are we fishers of men are we fishing for the souls of the doomed? I strive to each time I am given the chance to.

    Pam,

Not all of us know what our part is in this. Some of us do. Some of us only think we do. And the vast majority just plain don't care...

    Thanks for the comment.
