Good comments, Mel. I think it's easy for us to fall into the busybody trap, either of doing too much at the expense of our relationship with the Lord and with others, or of not keeping busy enough and becoming gossips or buttinskis. That's probably why there are so many "Being a Mary in a Martha world" books coming out in the Christian bookstores lately.
Thanks for the reminder; we all need to check our motivations occasionally. Have a blessed day!

I am having a good day so far, but I am reminded of that tongue in cheek prayer that ends something like "But in a moment I am going to get up, and I am going to need all of the help I can get, Lord!"
Thanks for your kind comments, Traci.
In Christ,
Mel
BTW, I wish for you to have a blessed day, too! I hope for you to see the blessings in every trial, every pain, every sorrow. Seeing blessings in other things is easy...

Marsha,
I don't know tht Matha was 'wrong' but that Mary chose what is 'better' which is a bit esoteric, but my understanding. I probably read too much into just the very choice of how something is said.
Anders,
I like that little rhyme! Thanks!

Mel

Hey, we're double-teaming them now!
Yours was exactly my conclusion about the elder board. Fifteen years ago I was honored to be asked on the board. Two years ago I felt that I was the Guy Left In Charge of the pastor search. Never in all those years did I feel it was my gift, or my joy. Turns out I hate church politics, and am not very good at them. I don't ever intend to go there again. The sad thing is that might be impossible to say without making fatal bad feelings.

9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NIV)
I think, dear brother, more of us have already 'been there, done that, got the T-shirt to prove it' on a lot of stuff. Just because we haven't done it before does not mean it has not already been experienced...
In Christ,
Mel
