Hey Jon, I so wish that I could just pick up the phone and offer a word of encouragement. I am, however, now forced to take a look at myself. As I have become more busy at church work I have gotten closer to God. Perhaps the times of busy church work are to serve a purpose in us, in our growth. I wouldn't say that you have failed miserably, though. To say that you failed would imply that you knew what the outcome was supposed to be. Are you sure that things didn't come out exactly as God planned? I mean, here you are after the storm, still standing, still determined, still moving forward. Exactly what God was/is working in your life is probably more of a mystery than you can possibly know and as such, it may be a little presumptious for you to examine the temporary outcome as a failure. Do you think that maybe you are exactly where and as God wants you to be. Certainly, our standards of success or failure cannot compare to God's.
My brother, look up. Thank God for taking the you through all this, teaching you through all this, and loving you through all this. Perhaps the best part of your life is yet to come. Maybe you are on the road past "touching the hem of His garment" and going onward to a full embrace of the Saviour. Maybe you are about to move into a greater fullness than you have ever known. Maybe, this is just the beginning of something great in your life.
Do not be troubled, just believe. Lift your face to the heavens and let Him anoint you fresh. Ah, the glory that shall soon be revealed!
