Will you please provide a link to his blog? I can't seem to find it, although given enough time, I might. I would like to know the date of his post, too, so I can find it and read it.

    Thanks,

    Mel

Went back and read it. I am pretty sure I read this one before, and I agree, it pulls it together well.

I teach my children the 10% and at the same time, I remember one of my children asked about whether they "had to" put $1 out of their $10 allowance in the offering. I think I actaully laughed and said "No", so I am not about the legal form as much as I am about the teaching by the form. As your understanding deepens, you are able to push past the form and understand more of the meaning that lies underneath. I think that is touched upon very well, and is the very thrust of Hebrews. Still, it is something to be reminded of. An idea to keep in mind is that the form is a reflection of the meaning underneath. Christ did not alter one stoke of the pen of the Old Law, rather he fulfilled *all* its obligations and formal requirements. Let's just not waste that freedom too much!

If in faith, a person believes they *must* tithe (even though I may think it is because they have been wrongly taught that form is more important than meaning) I would not prevent them from doing so, or even to speak harshly in anger against them for their misunderstanding. If, however, they are so caught up in that Dogma that they will not listen to truth at all and refuse to discuss a matter such as this if it strikes me as important for them to understand, my anger is riled for that difference in attitude alone. Does that make sense? I hope it does, because the truth is, that permeates all that I am and how I see my purpose in this life, to speak Truth and have Truth be heard! That it (or my presentation of it) may be not understood is frustrating at times, but something I am able to deal with. I also am a flawed vessel caring a rich treasure! It is worth more than gold or gems or great buildings!

    In Truth and Blessings,

    Mel
