Hi Jon - I'm sure you'll do just right. Just remember toleave it in God's hands to show you what to do and it will be a breeze.

I have a question for you though. How important is it to know the history of the bible. I really disliked history as a child and reading your blog immediately makes me think "BORING....". I admit that I am NOT one for history or apologetics, so I am really just trying to see if I can get by without all that "JUNK". (ok, it's not junk, but to me it is).

    What do you think?

    God Bless

A lot of people seem to agree with you, attendence was down. I don't know, are you enjoying studying the History of God's People in Babylon (Daniel)? Do you get anything out of studying the Church History in Acts? or Judges, Ruth, or Esther? Maybe that is why the Christian Right in America is so interested in politics, maybe they never heard what happened in the Dark ages when the church got political. I guess if God had quit working in His people after his ascension maybe history wouldn't mean much, but He didn't.

Ok, outburst over. Its really just another way to appeal to people. This one is for the ones who do like history. The story of how the church won over Rome by being like Jesus is inspiring to some, as Psalms might be to others. The warning about seeking God's will can come from history, or from Paul. You can praise Him for inspiring Augustine, or a hymn.

Looked like I got your blood boiling there for a second. Did not mean to do that, I was more just asking if in your opinion I would be able to continue my walk with God without having to really study the history, or is history always necessary to understand something I am unaware of. Also, don't think that I was implying that your blog is boring, as it is not. It's history that is boring to me.

Point taken in the fact that history actually presents itself throughout the bible, but I never remember what year, with whom and why. Do you understand what I am saying?

Thanks for the honesty though! ;O)

    Be blessed

Ps- by the way, I do hold people who are interested in all this mention stuff in high esteem purely because I know I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

    :O)

Don't worry, I didn'tget offended. My first half wasn't meant to show anger, just historcal passion. My point was that you do enjoy God's History, like Daniel, when its presented in the right way. We don't focus on who or when but the whys can be very interesting. Like why did Simeon Stylites spend half his life living on top of a pillar? The answer is that he was trying to draw closer to God, just like you

Oh, and of course you don't have to know this stuff too, like i said, its just another way to see God work. You are already doing a fine job of that.
