Satan's plan is to destroy marraiges, and unfortunately is succeeding in this area. The satanists even have a month of fasting and pray against marraiges (I do stand corrected on this as I only heard it from someone and have not confirmed it yet). But, if that is the case, should we as married couples not be doing much more to keep our marraiges together?

I too have heard that in Scotland so there is probably some truth in it. God abhors divorce, Malachi 2:16 So there you have it, he permitted divorce but abhors it. We might conclude that it is against the will of God. The trouble is the world gets into marraige because they enjoy getting into bed. Lust has brought down more Pastors than anything else.
After years of marraige, we have worked at it & argued with the each other. But we are still together, & still in love. Thank you Lord.

Although I am totally in agreement with what you are both saying, I look beyond the pure litteral in this passage. I am certain from the context that it was meant to address divorce per se, but it also brings to my mind other questions to seek answers for. Our God is gracious. How many other ways does he mke allowances for our hard hearts, I wonder?

I think the exegesis of the passage I quoted in Malachi, means divorce from God!!!He took a people (Abraham) made them his own, & in a few generations they were deserting him. So he talks about divorce!
Hope this might help, God hates when we neglect him, feels like a divorce,
