    Hi Mel,
I just follow the Word, not anyone's preaching in particular; I am learning to discern what is right and scripturally sound.
    God's blessings on you today,

We all have the ability to do right or wrong .whether or not someone tells us really dosen't matter as long as we know and God knows.
    May God Bless

So, I can get in again - let's see for how long....... My guidelines I use as are as follows:

If I am convicted in my spirit not to do something specific or if I continually get thoughts of knowing it is not right to do while doing it, I stop. Simple. I believe if it displeases God and He wants you to change, change, if not, seek His council until you are either at peace or have changed, whatever the case my be. Does the bible not tell use to test all things and who better to rely on than the Holy Spirit?

    Hello all,

Yes to all for the most part. Lee, what you say I do not disagree with. However, I would say that you must measure what you think is "convicted in the spirit" as you say it, against God's Word.

The Heart is Deceitful above all things...

Not that your heart is bad, but it can often lead people the wrong way and they attempt to cover by simply saying "the spirit led me to do it"

Do not disown or discount the power of The Holy Spirit. That is very far from the truth I am trying to say. But to examine the "revelation" you are given is wise. Not to examine by worldly standards, mind you. Such measurements are unworthy. Measure it by God's word alone.

Some moments you will simply react. I understand that, and if you believe you are led to dosomething that does not allow time for examination before acting, who am I to judge. But, I'd look back and examine it after the fact so that you can indeed be trained by the experience and allow God's Grace to be sufficient in your mind to cover all of your shortcomings.

See, Lee. I need you to prompt me. I am almost writing another whole post here. LOL!!!

    In God's Grace,

    Mel

Hi, all! Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but I've been busy MOVING out of my FEMA trailer and into an honest-to-goodness HOUSE! Praise God!!!!!!!

Anyway, Mel and Lee, I think you both have the right idea and were saying the same thing, for the most part. We do need to respect the authority God has established in our lives, be it church, school, work, government or whatever. At the same time, God does not expect us to blindly follow that authority's edicts without "testing the spirits," as the Bible puts it, and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in the matter. He expects us to use the brains and discernment He gave us to make the right choices and act in accordance with His plan for our lives and in faith that said plan is for our good, even if the matter in question seems to be a hard path to take.

As an aside, Mel, you're the third or fourth person lately that I've seen reference that particular passage of Scripture about those who sit in the seat of Moses. Think God's trying to tell us something?

    God bless y'all!

He has been telling us things since time began, methinks...

Just waiting for us to hear him, which means we have to listen...

    In Truth,

    Mel
