Meet at the flagpole and pray before and after school. For the most part, they cannot stop you. If absolutely NO extracuricular activities (Track & Field, Chess Club, Debate Team, Band, etc.) are allowed, then they might be able to stop you. If you are peacefully just having a quiet prayer, they risk as much trying to stop you as they do to try to force others to pray. The key is to be Peaceful beyond reproach. Quiet and not disruptive. (if others are disruptively abusing you then guess what the legal obligation of the school becomes -- not that you can expect them to willingly live up to it -- but you can hope for and even pray for just that, if you wish)

Expect ugly people to raise their head if you do this. Remaining peaceful will be hard. Remember the followers of Ghandi walking up in protest to be clubbed to death? They were not Christians, and for the most part, I consider that we are to suffer less than that doing this. Are they more devoted to their cause by such a great degree?

    Hi Teri -

Mel - I see what you are saying, but when I was at school, assembly every morning where we sang hymns and prayed the Lord's prayer was compulsory. We even had a subjuct called RI (Religious Instruction). This was an opportunity for those children who's parents never took them to church or told them about Jesus to actually hear the Word of God. If they don't know about Jesus, they certainly won't stand under the flagpole and pray.Schoold were a medium of planting the seed in a child's life. No wonder satan tried so hard to get it banned! And how many Christians just stood back and said - "It's OK, we'll just pray under the flagpole everyday"? Were they thinking only of themselves, or of all the lives that would potentially be changed in due course?

    Just another angle to it.

    God bless

I say "pray without ceasing" ~~~ no one else has to know what's going on under your breath or running through your mind. ... Everyone can pray!

Children can, and should be, lead to Jesus by their parents .... but unfortunately this is not Little House on the Prairie when church was a normal activity. No one asked "do you go to church?" Instead it was "what church do you go to?" If only we could reclaim the moral and social values lost as time went on. The bible says that when his peope fall silent that he'll call on the rocks to worship Him ....
