I remember hearing a Billy Graham message, later that week I was at a funeral and overheard a woman say: 2I have heard better messages in our meeting, than I heard at Billy Graham the other day, I was disappointed".
I have not thought about that statement for about twenry years now. Your input reminds me, Billy Graham led many thousands of people to Christ in his life, what was his secret?
A simple message that told it as it is, that is God is love & his Son died for the sins of the world. I have preached for many a year now, I really think that simplicity is the answer, all questions arising can be answered at a later date, announce if anyone wishes to know more see you or the Pastor after the meeting. Then spend time with the enquirers.
Illustrate your message with personal glimpses & God will bless your study & efforts.
You will learn to trust him more as you strive to tell. Remember you will be your own worst critic!! Have faith in your ability, God will see you through it all. Awesome

Thanks Stuart for the advice. I think the "simple message" is the point. Not much feedback on this opening (obviously). I think it is too complicated and wordy. I'll shorten it.

Hi there Jon. Great to see that you now have a face to put to the name. You are still a spring chicken! I had an image of grey hair already. Are you sure you're as old as you say you are? lol
I seem a bit left behind here in what you are doing, and I really got confused when I read these comments, so I'll just keep reading and wait for me to see the light.
