Thanks Mel, for the steps to follow in trials.
Pray, pray, pray!! As you said, 5, 6 or an hour - just unburden yourself on God.

    "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
    Proverbs 3:5-6

    God bless you, Mel.

When trials come, and they do, this sounds like good, sound, words of encouragement. Yet, I wonder if you have ever been through a trial in which you had neither the strength or fortitude to pray. I rememeber a time like this and God's whisper to me was, "just stand".
Sometimes this is all He is asking. We put a great deal of pressure on ourselves to cross the finish line with our arms stretched toward the sky, a shout from our lips, and energy left to burn. Truth is, just crossing the finish line at all is all that's required. Dragging, bleeding, and weak... just get across. Don't anticipate pressing through a blinding storm without getting wet.

    Fair enough Teri.

But for me, I find that if I am 'just standing' it is because I am too proud and stubborn to pray. I'd rather pray when forced to my knees than fight vainly to stand 'on my own power' which is vainity, pure and simple.

And I am vain at times...

    In truth,

There is a different stance to one who stands with pride holding them up and one who just stands to keep from falling. I guess I assume that it is simply understood that "we can do nothing without Christ" and therefore, whether standing or kneeling, it is only by His might. Surely, I would rather drop to my knees voluntarily than be forced there. Yet, those times do come if for no other reason than to get our attention.
By the way Mel, what is pride?

    To me:

Pride == Thinking more highly of oneself than one ought to. (not using sober judgement) Thinking too much along the lines of 'I can do it!' Accepting Glory for oneself. Unwillingness to give up and allow someone else (possibly even God himself) deal with something. Pride is many things. It is Ego. Is it more than just including oneself but centering something completely on oneself. It is an excess of ME.

This is a hard one for me to escape/put down and control. And part of the reason can be seen in the very way I say it! MY self-control.

I am a strange personality type. I am both strongly directive and strongly compulsive. Those aspects are constantly at war within me. BM tests peg me as INTJ, which is the personality type that no-one wants in their group, but an HR person knows makes for a very strong and dynamic group if they can survive the trauma of it. DiSC tests call me the creative type. Biblical personalities put me in the stead with Moses and Paul (which I find funny, for I find more like in myself with John The Baptist at times and relate to his message strongly)

Who am I? A child of God, a brother in Christ, who often as not, loses sight of that. Focus on that, and pride takes a back seat. For me, prayer is the only sure way for me to do that.

    Not a short answer.

Oh Well -- Use as God would allow you to,

    Mel
