Pretty deep, Jon.
Not really sure of the meaning but I'll give it a shot.
Stan is doing the best that he can be expected to do, as an eight year old. He takes a great deal of time to perfect his perception of the sunset so that he can present it to the father.
Doesn't really matter what the painting looked like, the father was well pleased with the effort that Stan put into it.
All that we do, with the motivation to please our Father, is beautiful to Him. The unfortunate side to this is that we have lost the "childlike" innocence that Stan had. I don't know as I ever look at my efforts and like what I've done.
I suppose the driving lesson is to do our best and the Father will be pleased.
Am I anywhere near the intended lesson?
In His Service,

I think that deep down inside, each of us will find a meaning to it that God is pointing out to us individually. This is truly an annointed story. Thanks for sharing Jon.
