THE WEEK DONE
On Monday Heaven and the earth
are born. And baptized is the birth
by God’s “Be light!”. For Heaven case
is earth’s naïve and helpless face.
On Tuesday God a firmament
creates by which the water splits.
The hearts by this establishment
arise as motherhood commits.
On Wednesday is separated
estate from water on the earth,
the mind of earth accommodated
and three types plants are given birth.
On Thursday is the Heaven’s eye
made clear, the firmament revealed.
The sun, the moon, the stars all by
no longer is the want concealed.
On Friday want and will arise
on earth as fish and birds are done.
And needs and dreams characterize
the earth, a dualism won.
On Saturday control is gained:
Three kinds of creatures, sense to stand,
created by which wit explained.
And man is made to rule the land.
On Sunday God will stop and rest.
And we the given life will test.
No burden, though, on this day bear.
Praise God alone for love and care.
