I'll step up and admit to my crimes. let me add something however you mentioned using the Lord's name in vain, rather that just being a curse directed at someone might it not also include possibly telling someone you will pray for them and not doing so? Or any other time you might use the Lord as a pointer but don't follow throughI would have to say it might be entirly possible to use the Lord's name in vain without cursing at someone in anger. I still have to admit though, GUILTY as charged
    Be blessed

I think we take His name in vain any time we let it be known that we are Christians and then don't live like it. Obviously we're all guilty of that one.
    Thanks Ross.

...... and love your neighbour as yourself.
Then the parable of the good Samaratan, a race the Jews did not even think about!
We really should be like the tax-collector in the Temple, "Have mercy on me Lord I am a sinner".
Now if we all did that, would it not be an Awesome maturing in Christ?

I grew up in the inner city. Swearing was learned almost right after we learned to walk. Our household (my mother, mainly) was filled with words that began with F and B. It was how I was raised, even though my Grandmother, a devout Christian never did such things.

I don't swear much any more but I backslide sometimes. I ask for forgiveness and try not to do it again.

As for calling someone a fool, I have been guilty of that too...and then I realize, I too, am a fool when I do so.

    God Bless!
