For the most part, the geneaology mentions only fathers and sons. What do you make of the significance of this departure?

God trying to point out that we don't live in a perfect world and even this great man David made a huge mistake, but God forgave. The funniest thing was in my normal act of trying to read the bible through, back when things went haywire with hubby, I was reading about dear ole David. You can find peace in these scriptures if you look hard enough.
Even though it's tough, you're too far through it to turn back. :O) lol Anyway, that;s why it's called the past because God wanted people to go through all these things. If we could all turn around and run away maybe only 2 would ever make the end. :)
Just trying to make you smile.
God Bless and know that I am praying 4 you.

you have to goback to Ruth to understand I believe it has something to do with that in Ruth we are given a picture of redemption then you think about thefact we are redeemed through the seed of a woman it all makes more sense

ok Mel this is according to the peoples new testament commentary the only place so far I have found an explanation. Matthew also skipped 3 kings in his geneology because a Hebrew would understand the lineage. Tamar,Rahab and Ruth probably were mentioned because of their remarkable history. Uriah was a Hitite, a gentile and probably so with Bathsheba whom if you notice is not given a name , and the reason for her was quite possibly she was Davids greatest guilt. hope this gives you more to look into Mr. Berean
Be blessed
