Bob, my apologies for not commenting sooner. It is a good thing that you are doing here. I expect your reasons are your own, but I encourage you to remain stedfast in this. Even if no-one comments, be aware that some of us do read this without commenting.

You bring up a point that I am still growing in my understanding. It is the concept of shame. Does shame motivate? What does? If we are in Christ, do we need shame, or do we need something else?

I ask this as something to think on -- to ponder. As I said, I am still growing in my understanding of this, and it may be that you will have an insight that will add to it.

Be Calm and at Peace with and in Our Lord Jesus the Christ,

    Mel

The reference to shame was in the verse itself. The shame here is the presupposition that comes because we know that we are sinners. When we lay down, there ought to be this sense of guilt because of who we are and what we do.

The focus, however is not the sin or the shame, but "Our God." When I look at my sin and then I look at the cross, I see just how much Jesus loved me and gave Himself for me in spite of that sin and shame.

That is my joy and my motivation to walk with Him on a daily basis one decision at a time!!!

My shame is not my motivation; God's love for me in spite of that sin is!

This is my fourth year to write these devotionals on a daily basis. I am honored to have you guys read them... with or without comments!!!
