We have all kinds of reasons why Moses was not allowed into the promised land. He struck the rock didn't speak to it is one I hear often we can say what we will is it not possible that he was part of the original generation and the people were pretty much starting to view him as God. They didn't speak to god Did they even pray without Moses telling them it was time for that? Is it not possible God just needed to provide a new leader without the Godlike aura about him. Let's face it God didn't even let Moses go back to them . He took care of burying Moses Himself. Maybe his need had outgrown him?

Your view was an interesting one although I do not see the people viewing Moses as God. It is evident that God did need to provide a new leader in Joshua but I do not think it was because Moses was godlike himself.

I think personally that God's plan was to let Moses lead the people out of Egypt and then use Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land.

The people who came out of Egypt died in the wilderness.. with the exception perhaps of the children. Egypt represents a type for sin in the OT and so teh new generation would possess the Promised Land as opposed to the generation born in sin or in Egypt. (Stark similarity to Being Born Again... in the New COvenant.)

Joshua was a man of faith in God's promises. He told the people that they needed to go with God and that God would give them the victory.

Moses made the mistake when he stuck the rock of crying out to God... "How much longer do "we" have to put up with these people...

He let his position as God'ambasador step up as if he had brought the people out of Egypt and he had done so much to provide for them etc. Even though God had used him, he himself. speaking of Moses had not done anything on his own and it was God who had done all that had been done.

Moses' mistake was a common mistake and in some ways may have had a twist of truth to it... I am of the opinion that God never intended for Moses to lead the people into the Promised Land...

Joshua was the one who would lead his people into the Promised Land.. and years later, Jeshua would lead His people into the Promised Land.

    Imagine that.

    God Bless Ross

okay Bob I concure with your analysis And must say the only reason I brought it up is because to many people have an opinion about why Moses was not aloud to lead them rather than accepting that it was Gods will Sorry about the rant
