Long ago, I heard someone say that temptation was a good thing. It was a point where you could put the whole situation into perspective. Look at what you would gain (in the now) in not falling to the temptation and look at what you could gain (in the now) if you went for it. Then look at the future and see what is avoided in the future if you did not fall to the temptation compared to the hurt, pain and suffering you will cause if you do fall to it.
Ultimately the point of temptation should be the point of realisation that it was not a good thing to do. But God does not tempt and one should always see it from whence it came - satan.
