Hi Marsha,
That prayer is the prayer they use at Alcoholic's Anonymous.
My father was an alchoholic so I am very familiar with that prayer.
I am happy to say he has been in recovery for 25 years and he is now the father that I have always wanted and needed.
(Of course, besides our Our Heavenly Father!!)

Hi Mary Lou, I am soo happy to hear that about your father. That you now have the father you always wanted. Besides our Heavenly Father. My dad (father) passed away several years ago. I do not know where he is? I was abused by him from age 5. I alwsys thought if he knew he was going to die from an illness (any) that he would tell me he was sorry. I found out at his funeral that he knew he had six months to live. He did not say he was sorry for abusing me. How I found out I receved a message on my answering machine from my brother. He said, Marsha, Dad is Dead!...
My Dad (father) took his deep dark secret to his grave.
I have forgiven him even though he did not ask to be.
