My dear brother, I do hope that my words don't come across in an over-bearing way. You are every bit entitled to your beliefs and opinions. I would not try to turn you from what you believe in the arena of men's places versus women's places.
I do wonder though, is this a belief that you grew up with or did you make this conclusion on your own, in your adult life. I think that sometimes we mingle things that are taught to us from a young age with what the Scripture says. Example: We are not to be unequally yoked. Does this also entail one's national origin, one's skin color, one's culture or is this only in reference to religion? I have heard at least on preacher use it to condemn inter-racial relationships and yet that is not at all what was intended in the verse. One only needs to read it in context to find what is really being said. But you see, the preacher was taught from a young age that the mixing of races was wrong and now in her adult life, she has found scripture to back it up. I have a friend that adopted 4 brothers who are black and her family is white. Is this mixing alright? Do you see how crazy all this can get?
Really enjoy your posts, really enjoy the intellectual meat.
In His Service,

Very interesting point of view Mel. All we have is the Word of God to go by and try to comprehend. But I think we all know enough to know what we have to do to live the way God intends.
In Christ.

Hi Mel,
You have a very interesting post. As we read and search the Scriptures, We need to pray for knowledge and understanding.
Ephesians 1:15-23
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saint, 16...Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; ....17.
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him...18.The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints...19.
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,...20..Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places....21. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and domination, and ever name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:...22. And hath put al thins under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the Church...23. Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.
1Corinthians 11:1-3
-- Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ....2. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you...3.** But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
God has put each one of us in the field of His calling, if only we will abide there and be obedient we will grow strong in HIM.....But at times, some are out of the field, where they are placed and want to do their own thing or want to do what someone else is doing. Out of God's will they will never grow spiritually.
The man should have leadership from the hightest position, President down to the lowest official.
For the Man is not of the Woman; but the woman of the man...Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. A help meet. But the women play a big role in the churches, and the offices, in their position, but not as leadership......
God bless,
Lois

You know, I wish I had a glib answer to all of this. Your comments are all good, and I have been provoked to thought, and I thank you all for that. I thought not to go on a tangent, but know that I must. Just what I am led to is still being revealed, as one might say. Odd things pop up, and chasing them leds me from one corner of thought to another. And Truely, I can thank you, my brothers and sisters, for that very opportunity!
In Christ,
Mel

Mel, I'll say this for the record, just in case anyone has thought my comments at odds with yours: I think we're in agreement on the roles of men and women in matters of authority. I don't think you are causing dissension, although I think your comments may be causing things to surface in your readers. As you say, those things need to come up so that they can be dealt with in a godly manner.
As for the comments of others to your posts, I understand where they are coming from, although I don't agree with everyone. I will say this, though; this is not a matter that should be a deal-breaker in our relationships within the Body of Christ. There are many areas in which we must agree to disagree if we are to peacefully coexist, and it will strengthen our bond to do so rather than to continue being at odds over these issues.
So if, like me, you believe that a woman should follow God's calling on her life even if it takes her into a place that many may think is solely the purview of men, you must be willing to not judge, but allow other men and women the right to have another view on the matter. I stress, though, that it's a matter of following God, not some feminist agenda.
Meanwhile, let us, in as much as it concerns each of us, pursue peace with one another. God bless you, Mel, for keeping things lively here!

Traci, I don't see myself at odds with anyone. What I am at odds with is those ideas, even in my own mind, that are contrary to what God has to say. In this forum, by hanging my personal thoughts on a matter out there, it is just as much for someone to challenge me and purge my own wrong thinking as much as it is for me to persuade others of their possible foibles. And judgement, no, that is not the drill and is not OK. For the most part, I see this current discussion as one draped in taboos. We won't talk about it, so I must! Light and Truth! (without the bashing and self righteousness -- hard to do)
I think if I get too headstrong, the Lord will send someone to humble me. I really don't want that, but if it is needed, I should welcome it! Am I a true nut? I hope so!
In Christ,
Mel
