Why do we think Jesus is the Christ? That is the question. We do not want to make an idol of Jesus, even if there are plenty false prophets today doing so. So let us see what the Bible says. In Romans 9:33 it says: "As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." And so the question is, why is Jesus a stumblingstone and a rock of offence? The answer is: He went to the cross. And before doing so He said (Matthew 10:38) "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me." And He said (Matthew 16:24): "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." That is the nature we should worship.
