Morning mel, I read with interest the thread which yo have taken today. When I read, the verses you have laid out I find the common theme which runs through them to be similar, vis a vis: When we are with others, it is commendable to acquiesce with them in the matters of diet. This can be taken as twofold, the first so as not to insult or offend them, as in meeting a Jew do not offer him pork or any thing he would not take, this would apply equally to a follower of Islam. Secondly, at the same time it is allowable to eat meat which others may take, although you yourself may not think it suitable!
The thing here is to give thanks to God for it, & enjoy the product of God's creation.
We are in the business of representing a loving God of grace, in loving our neighbour we should not try to force our beliefs on them, but explain in the logical manner of Paul what is the basis for our faith. Both in season & out, we are to be all things to all men that we might win them for Christ, remembering that Love casts out all fear.
I would respect the individuals wish to serve in a different way from me, as long as it is done in love. Saving people from the coming wrath, baptising them in the name of the Father & the Son & the Holy Spirit. That is what we are about, sharing God's love that others will wish to join, that they might share in God's grace. The whole point of all these versus is about the Gospel, did Peter not share with gentiles, does he not say in v 34 that he now realises that God hasno favourites? He loves us all with the same zeal. What he cannot do is look at the sin of mankind, he turned away from Jesus, as he took on the sin of the world, whilst on the cross.
You certainly know how to bring up points of interest, keep it up, it causes us all to think about God from a different angle.
    Learning about God is awesome
    Love in His Name Stuart
