    Hi Meghan!
Welcome to ChristiansUnite blog. I'm a little slow at visiting sites (my elderly age! lol). You talked about "jumping in", so I'm going to jump in with both feet! I think if you attend a few churches down there and, like Mary Lou said, see where you feel at HOME. Are the people friendly? More, are the pastor's messages from the Word of God? More still, is the Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed -- that as God's Only begotten Son, He was born God in the flesh, He lived, He died, He arose, and He's coming again! And even more, is JESUS your own personal Saviour and Lord? If so, ask Him to guide you to the "right" church, and by His Holy Spirit I believe you will find where you belong as part of His Body of believers.
    God bless, new "blogger"!

    Hi Meghan,
    Don't be frightened or scared.
That's just the enemy trying to make you feel confused.
Pray and put your faith in God.
Proverbs 3:5-7 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not epend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths."
    God bless you. Hugs ML

I would suggest that you take your time deciding on a church. There can be huge differences between church styles. Pastors sermons can range from very formal to very casual. Each can be good in their own way, it just depends on which you like. They can also have greatly different music styles, again between traditional and contemporary.
You shouldn't look for what entertains you more, but which helps bring you closer to God. For instance, you might like more modern music but feel more inspired by classical. You should also look for a place where you, and your husband, could fit in socially. It would be great for you both to find a few couples to be-friend who could show you many things about the church and about God.
But mostly, don't be nervous. I don't remember ever hearing someone describe visiting a church as scarey. Boring maybe, but not unpleasant. If it doesn't feel like a warm, friendly place, move on. Trust that God will show you where you should be.
