    Hi Mel,
It never ceases to amaze me how God uses another to get my attention about a matter He has tried to get my attention about! (That makes sense to me; hope it does to you!) Thank you for sharing this post! I have learned that if I learn my lessons well I do not have to learn them the hard way -- like sometimes over and over again. I like your comparison of children on the playground -- of life!
God bless you abundantly with His Peace.
    serving Jesus with Joy!

Oh, Yes! It most certainly does. And the 'wake up call' may come from a non-believer. God is not limited by our understanding.

I keep an eye on the proverbs for the time being, and I made a search within them on ”child” (in the BlueLetterBible). And I reformulated this one: “Folly is knotted in the heart of a child. But the rod of correction shall drive it away.” (22:15). (Tihi!)

That is the lesson Learned Hard, Anders. If you read Proverbs more, you will see a host of the Author Exhorting 'His Son' to listen to wisdom. I have never counted which is more, the beating fools deserve, etc, or the praises of those who are upright in heart. Might be something to do for me sometime, I guess...

    Thanks My Friend and Brother,

I wrestle with whether I am being childish. I have listned carefully to other voices, but they ususally contradict. Everyone that I have talked to outside our church says, "Why would you stay?" and everyone inside the church says,"Why would you leave?"
I think the biggest lesson is not to look for fast, easier solutions. God often wants us to work slowly and throughly through situations. There is much to be learned in the process. Why hurry through it? We are tied to the idea that things are supposed to be easy.

Agreed Jon. I have tried to not give specific advice to you in this matter because I am not there. I will only pray that you will be open enough to hear it when God speaks clearly to you on this matter. Pray for that as well, brother, earnestly seeking an answer, as I think you are. With that, I think you will be fine...

I guess as well something would come out of that. And I recall Rehabeam, son of Salomon, was rejected since he said he would use the rod diligently against his people. Rehabem himself did not receive the best certificate of character. So i (in any case) I believe there are more than one way to achieve accountability and responsibility taken by the child. But the image given by the proverb - of the heart in it's work - is beautiful.

I have no children my self. :)

    Anders,

What he desired from his son was anything but this. He choose to be heavy with the Rod, as if that were the only answer. However, we ultimately do not choose for others, even our own children. So it is with God and us...

    In Truth,
