Hi Cameron - don't be afraid to go. Yes, you might have your past come back at you, but ask God to use this opportunity for you to deal with all those things. Start praying now, that He will impart in you a forgiving heart. I have learnt that you cannot hide from the past, as satan always has an uncanny way of bringing it back up. Ask God to allow you to face it all, and help you to deal with it all for once and for all. If you deal with it, and forgive where needed, next time it won't hurt as much.
Just go and enjoy your kids to the fullest and allow God to do the rest.
