And while we're quoting scripture, how about these red-letter words: "Then he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.' " (Mark 2:27)
Let's see - if Jesus himself told us not to get hung up on the technicalities of Sabbath because the idea of a day of rest was designed to benefit man, not burden him, then who are we to impose a bunch of rules and regulations on when and how people observe the Sabbath? The point is that we observe it, both to honor God for His work during that first week of Creation and to give our bodies rest from our work, so our internal systems can reset and refresh for the week ahead.
Short answer: Amen, Mel. I'm with you on this one.

Well, I like your answers to your daughter. My son home schools his 5-year old and doesn't always abide by "politically correct rules". Personally, I love it! He's making learning a real "Learning" for Ashley and doing it enjoyably and creatively for both of them. She's a unique bubbly very intelligent little girl who loves life! (Okay, I'll quit bragging now! LOL)
Now, very briefly, I appreciate and agree with your comments about the Sabbath... Comments, by the way, that could pertain to many issues Christians "disagree" on and opinions that are held as "sacred cows"!
Blessings to you today!

As long as we don't make this an excuse not to worship or set aside a day of rest.

I always went by this principle - If you have one holy or special day a week that makes the other six not holy or special.

Hello all.
Wow. Quite diverse thoughts. No, Larry, I don't expect we will. And Jon, for each of us it is special as we make it. I suspect you would make every day a holiday...
Marsha, we have had birds. They are ok. We do have fish. Serola, devoted by turns, I am afraid, but if I am aware of a need, I do what I can. It is getting through to me that is the tricky part...
Oh yeah, food is mentioned (sacred cows) and yup, this goes for more than the obvious I dare say. Thanks Sharon.
Traci, you got my point. Technicalities are killers. We can think we ar thrivingif we get the details right, but if the big picture is all screwed up, it really makes not a whit of difference...
Blessings all,
Mel
