    Hi Serola,
    Great Scriptures, and message, have truly enjoyed them....Yes, there is a rest for the people of God, When we cease from our works, as God did from His. We have that perfect rest, and peace to do God's will and not ours.
    Thank you Jesus, our intercessor, our Great Mediator.
    God's blessing!
    In His Love, Lois

    If they do not fall into self comdemnation, they will be condemning others to bouy themselves up. Remember what Jesus said about the Man praying to himself and the Man Beating his Breast? Well, which one do you strive to be? I know your answer, serola, and I approve. I think we must keep a little of that understanding of what terrible sins we have done, so that we are always humbled.

    Those who doubt this, Read the Word of God where Jesus tells this story. He speaks quite plainly! At least he seems to to me...

    In Christ,

    Mel

    BTW, Good message...

    Hi Lois J. I appreciate you dropping by, and leaving your insightful comments. Yes we can have perfect peace and rest that God gives to His people alone, when we rest from our own works and count on His finished work. You are a blessing to me.

    Hi Mel, thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments. You are a blessing to me. So true some condemn others to buoy themselves up. My questions concerning that we must keep a little of that understanding of the terribleness of sin that we have done so that we are always humbled, based on the publicans response. Does Jesus know more about the terribleness of sins that we have done than we do? Is rememberance in this way the true way to humility? Le's look at the audience that Jesus was speaking to re the publican and the pharisee: Lk 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

    So we can see that the publican under the law rightly discerned his state, for the law served to show that very purpose, that the law could not make any one righteous-and that he indeed as he saw clearly was a sinner, and glorified God in that he saw no righteousness of himself or any work that he could do to merit it.

    Jesus speaks in this way to those who are Christians under Grace, I give these scriptures, dear brother: Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

    Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
    Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

    Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
    Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
    Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
    Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
    Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
    Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) He does not call His people sinners, but because of His Grace we are called: :

    1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

    1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
    1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
    So we humble ourselves ourselves today,in remembrance of the mighty work our God has done in His Finished work. Only in this way will our Lord exalt us in due season. Yes we must deal with sin, because of His finished work in us, we can repent ie, change our mind set that led to it, grow from it and above all come into agreement with God's word and live it. Finally I end with this, my brother:
    Phil 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
    Phil 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I know Jesus will keep on enabling His royal priesthood, and holy nation to do just that.

    love
