Does anyone know what the strange question from the Pharisees was all about?
I see John the Baptist as a very direct man. In other words he gave a straight answer and expected the same in return. He didn't take crap, and 'making straight the ways' tells me that he might have functioned to get the crap out of Israel that they needed to cleanse themselves of. I think I understand him in this! Yet, although he clearly new who Christ was, and was dedicated enough to be put in prison for this, once there, he was capable of exhibiting weakness in asking (through a couple of his disciples) if Christ was who he thought he was. But even in his doubts, he was honest and direct.
Be Blessed,
Mel
