Good post, Lois. Are you familiar with the song, "The Old Man is Dead"? It's a Christian/country song about a man who "used to paint this old town red" with his carrying on at the local bar, but then he met Jesus. When his friends ask him why he doesn't drink and carry on like he used to, he tells them that the old man is dead - in other words, he shares his testimony about how he met the Lord in a little church, and how Jesus healed him and delivered him of all that sinful stuff he used to do. It's a great song and one of my pastor's favorites. We can count on him to sing it in duet with our music minister at least half a dozen times throughout the year.
And that's fine with me, because the song is a good reminder that Jesus did that for each of us - delivered us from the old nature that held us in bondage. It's also a reminder that we should tell our story whenever God gives us the opportunity to - not dwelling on our sinful past and being nostalgic about it as I've heard some people do, but telling the wonderful story of how Jesus met us when we were in that miry clay and how He pulled us out of it and set us on solid ground.
Be blessed, my sister!
Love,
Traci

Hi Traci,
Enjoyed your wonderful post. I have heard the song, but don't remember the words. Will have to look it up on the pc, that is how I find a lot of my songs. This sounds like a good song, The Old Man is Dead. How true, When Jesus saved us, we became a new creation. The past is no longer remembered, so wonderful. Thank You Jesus.......
That is great your Pastor sings that song. yes a reminder what Jesus did for us, picked us up out of the miry clay and put our feet upon a rock, and established our goings. And hath put a new song in our mouth.
Our Pastor sings two songs, we just love to hear "I'm Changing Houses" and "By the side of the road" by, the Primitive Quartet. He also sings "Glory Road" which everyone enjoys.
God bless you Sister,
With God's Love,
Lois

Hi Lois, your post is wonderful. Ha Ha it made me laugh in joy, just thinking about what the Lord has done for me. As you have pointed out so clearly, our testimony about what the Lord has done for us can be used as a powerful tool for witnessing. For what He does for us He will do for others.
