    Freedom is a strange word...

Something to chew on for a while... (for me at least it is)

Hi Lois, yet again, my sister, praise God, you have lifted up the powerful/dreadful sword of the spirit. So true that Jesus has placed the key of freedom into the hand of every saint, so that each and everyone of us can boldly say that sin shall not have dominion over us.

    love

Mel, Thanks for visiting and leaving your heartprints. Why do you think Freedom is a strange word? In John 8:36 -- If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.....Also in your post today you wrote...1 Corinthians 8:9 -- But take heed lest by any means this liberty (freedom) of yours becomes a stumbling block to them that are week...........So Freedom shouldn't be strange to you..........

    Have a great day!
    In His Love,
    Lois

    Freedom, Liberty, Choice.

These are things we give up for others...

That is the way to be a "Good Soldier" BTW, both for the literal and the Meaning in Christ...

    In Truth,

    Mel

    Maybe better said is this:

Freedom is a Paradox for a Soldier. He stands in the Breach, putting life and limb at risk. Why? To save the lives of those he is sworn to. He gives up the freedom to run so that others might do just that.

An American Soldier goes further than that. He gives up his very choice in matters that others choose and take for granted. Why? So they can freely excercise the liberty of choice, even if they should be ignorant of the costs both great and small, that are paid continually on their behalf.

The frightening soldier, in many ways, is more a sheep than the common man -- he is constantly following his leader, doing as he is bid to do, no matter how noble or base the task may be.

So when others talk of freedom, I sometimes wonder: What have I missed?

It is a place where my mind does go wandering and wondering at times, with thoughts that defy simple words. There are feelings taht cannot be simply expressed. Thoughts so large the mind cannot contain all there is. In a way, it is a window to God.

Think of the Freedoms that Christ most certainly had and laid down every day. I am not always this aware of it, but I do go there often in awe.

    I ramble, sorry.

In Truth, bewildering as it may be,

    Mel

    Hi Mel,
Thanks for expressing your heart feelings, on Freedom as a Paradox for a Soldier. I have ofter heard my husband speak of what you are writing about, as he also was a service man. I would sit for hours and listen, while he explained so many things they had to do in service. A certain time for everything, and Yes, he always had to follow his leader, no matter what the task would be.

So I don't know much about it, but just a little of what my hubby told me. But I'm sure, at times when he was quite, his mind would wonder back to those long years in service. I know there are a lot of thing he never mentioned to me. Our prayers are with all the Men and Women in the service, fighting for our Country. Thanks again...
    God bless you Brother..

Yes. I know. But you try to understand and that means a lot when so few actually do!

When I try to explain with mere words, I know I cannot. You have to be there. Mentoring, working along side someone else, there are few ways to make one understand, and there are even those who wear the uniform who fail to understand. The parallels to the church vs the Church is profound. If you ask your husband, he will probabaly confirm that there are soldiers and there are Soldiers. I am not always the Soldier I should be, but sometimes just the soldier. If you ask this question, he might be wiser than I and able to give a simple answer. I have no such simple answer. I see the world with many fascinating colors and am unable to distill it to simple black and white, despite my desire to do so. So, don't ask this if you need to get somewhere soon... (chuckles)

    In Christ,

    Mel

    Hi Mel,
Thanks for visiting and leaving your heartfelt comment. A blessing to hear how you express how you feel. You are so right, no one understands unless they have walked in your shoes. I know my husband has told me some are soldiers and some act like they are, lot of difference. The actions of a person that has been in service, you can tell, if he was a real soldier or just a soldier...This was a great honor for my husband everything was real serious with him. He was granted a lot of opportunites, because he would do as ordered. So many things he discussed with me, and yes some things can take some time to explain, So I am a good listener.........
    God bless you brother...
