You are right... there have always been division among men regarding the scripture and how we are supposed to "play church"... I use that phrase loosly of coarse.
I am compelled to study the Bible for myself and do the best that I can to live according to its mandates for ME... then as I live that gospel I am to share those mandates revealed to me to others.
What happens when the mandates that are real to me differ from those that are real to you? well.. we have to do one of two things... agree to disagree and work together for the good of the gospel or we have to dust our feet off and go in different directions.
Take the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. There are great differences of opinion on how the Holy Spirit works in our lives... and how we get it... I dont care how you get it.. as long as you have it... but if I do not speak in tongues or have been "baptized in the Holy Spirit" as some would teach, then I dont have it and am looked on by some as a babe in Christ... and my eyes are blinded eetc...
Somehow this division exists... is it all the devils doing? Some of it may be and some of it may not be! Jesus came to establish His church and I am sure He has complete control of His church and while I am sure there is a lot that is taking place that He is not pleased with, I am sure there are things in some of us that He is indeed pleased with.
How God ultimately decides to judge others is not my concern... my concern is to make sure that He says to me and to those that I love, well done good and faithful servant, enter into this rest that has been prepared just for you!

Division will always be present in the church, I think one of the possible reasons for this is because we are all at different levels of "MATURING" or at different stages in our walk with God through Christ.
It will only be when we stand before our God & as he is about to deal with us Jesus will step forward as our advocate & say "This person is mine"
Then we will all be equal in the eyes of God.
This is my thought, based on Christ beingmy advocate as written in Romans 3:21-26
Hope this helps you in your enquiries!!
Love in His Name Stuart
