I would agree to a point. The polite, 'Fine, and you?' response, however, may be a lie. Even in our darkest hours, Christ is with us, but say I asked that question of a person who just lost his wife and children to some terrible tragedy, possibly caused by malicious actions of some person up to no good. If I did that, and got the rhetorical response, trust me, I would think that they were lying to me. Honesty in this is important. At times, the rhetorical response may be alright. At other times it may not. If that person is truly at peace after such a horrible thing, I'd like to know how. If it was because he knew Christ had his children and spouse in his arms right now, I'd say he had the perfect opportunity to make a very powerful witness of his faith. Be careful, even in this. Be truthful. But I understand what you are saying and your heart is right in how that spilling it all out like a broken faucet can be damaging. Although I'd say the damage was probably already there and that spilling it out was just revealing the damage to the light of truth. Just my thoughts, however.

    Be Blessed,

    Mel
