'What constitutes a "biblical" worldview? Christian researcher George Barna says it includes a belief in absolute moral truth as defined by scripture, as well as acceptance of six core biblical beliefs: the accuracy of biblical teaching, the sinless nature of Jesus, the literal existence of Satan, the omnipotence and omniscience of God, salvation by grace alone, and the personal responsibility to evangelize.'

I am not citing this quote, for I think you will find it easily enough if you look for it, and I don't want to spoil the fun.

Well, if the personal responsibility to evangelize means to freely share God's Word always, (as much as you can) I'd buy this as being pretty complete and essential. The problem is this: even here we have differences. I see that the thrust here is to make converts to Christ. (am I saying that is wrong? -- NO!)

But... That is what an evangelist does, is it not? I do see that as a function of the Body of Christ, but not the only one. I see that as an effect or sharing God's Word, but I am unwilling to do certain things to prothelize the faith. Making Disciples should be a natural outcome. If I act more like a Son of Satan than a Son of God, what kind of convert will I make?

    Let me explain:

With the emphasis on Truth, I think you will find that neither you nor I have it in our power to bring even one person to Christ. We can be tools for God to do this through us. My personal belief is to share God's Word as I am led to and let it (His Word) do what it has the power to do. (and in that, I can take no glory, if my understanding is indeed that simple)

What about the person in the wheelchair who is disabled to the point of being unable or almost so to speak? Does Christ find them unfit for his body? How about the mongoloid child/adult whose understanding may not progress much beyond 'Jesus Loves Me'; is such a person of no use?

I don't think so, for I don't think of sharing the Word of God as just the physical act of speech (which is human and flawed, by the way) No, it is shown in truth much clearer than that in what we do.

I read the report. I know what the number is, and how it is defined. I may not agree in total with the assesment in the numbers, but I still agree with the underlying thesis that there is a problem. I think, honestly, we would be better off if everyone tried to follow the six priciples as I may be misinterpreting them. Our problem then would be more one of people being confused by works versus grace fighting with each other in the realm of making converts. And that might be even worse. Only God Knows.

    In Christ,

    Mel

I 'm not sure about all of that Mel I would say by at least my take on the whole thing that an evangelist there for the sole reason of adding up converts to Christ has their hopes misplaced and is probably in the wrong business. If they are going to assume that what they say has much of anything to do with someone accepting Christ they are disillusioned. I must admit though my belief says it is our responsibility to evangelize I have more of a lifestyle, and relationship take on it than a streetpreaching principle. Not saying I agree completely with Barna just found the numbers shocking.

I think the answer is going to be very low!
We don't all walk the talk.
We may think that we are living acc. to the Bible and not the world
but we havethe views of this world to shake off first.
    God bless you for sharing!
