Truth is a powerful thing when combined with humility. Hezekiah might have needed one of these added to some measure at this point. I cannot know for sure. For me, I think having a Prophet telling me I was going to die would have that effect. The truth is, just like you said, this is going to happen at some appointed time already. Maybe we should all behave as if a Prophet had just told us "You are going to die." You and I just confirmed that.
AMEN,
Mel

Good evening Mel!
Good to hear from you brother. Yes, our date with death is already appointed by God. I suppose if we were to live a life that was right in the eyes of God we might be able to pray as did Hezekiah and gain some respite from God. I know that I haven't lived such a life up to this time. I desire to be better from today forward, for Christ makes me a better man.
God bless

He (Christ) will indeed make you better, through your efforts, blessed by the working of the Holy Spirit. It is actually amusing that you used Hezekiah as your example here for me, since he was the one I stumbled accross first as an example of a good heart for one of my more recent posts. I think good works are important. Not for what we do by doing them as much as for the good they do for our heart!!!
I know I am not justified by my works. However, those same works could justify looking at my heart expressed in those very same works. Faith without works is dead. I think this is what James was getting at when he said that...
In Truth,
Mel
