Three terrible things? Yes, I see that. However, in all of this I would cling to that promise put in a simple way in Romans 8:28. I think it possible for us in our current times to think about current leadership and fall into despair because of it. That is wrong, if we have faith in this passage. (I am not saying this judgementally -- I have fallen on that one and had to be pulled up out of it more than once..)

I am sorry, but these men and women do not rule except that God permits it, ordains it and even directs it. (he does not direct their evil acts, but chooses when to administer the punishment for them -- me, I'd rather have my punishment here on this earth...) The evil they do, I remember Satan asking God for Permission to do what he did to Job. Does that make where the evil comes from clear while still allowing for our God to remain in control? For me it does.

So, I will not (should not) throw up my hands and say "Something must be done, or we are all Doomed!!!" However, I will speak as truthfully and honestly about what I see, and yet God alone will guide the future regardless of how clearly I see it or not. I am not the Truth that some people with Messianic Delussions think themselves to be.

Our job is simple: Represent the Truth in everything we do. That Truth begins and ends with the Alpha and the Omega. Christ is Truth. God the Father is Truth. So too, should we be continually made over into that image of TRUTH! And we do not do that on our own. Even that is a Gift from God, Given through His Holy Spirit!

    AMEN,

    Mel

LOL I did not mean to imply that God ought not to have extended Hezekiah's life. It was more of a rhetorical question of which I probably should have ansered outright? Yes, evil things happened after Hezekiah was granted miraculous healing. But these evil things were then incorporated by God into creating future great things to inspire future generations of believers. If Judah was never carried off into captivity to Babylon then would we be inspired by the actions of Daniel and his young associates? Would we have received Daniel's prophecies in such a powerful form? Or would God have then used someone else to deliver them to us? Questions, questions, questions. God does what He deems right at the time that He deems right. We cannot sit in judgment of His actions, and hopefully we do not. I completely agree with you, Mel.

    Peace in Christ,
