    The dream

I had a dream last night. It left me both disheartened and comforted at the same time. The scene was a familiar place to me, though I never go there anymore, it was still warm safe place to me. I found myself at my Grandparents house, both are gone now. I was very aware of that fact, but at the same time I frantically searched for a sign of them. As I walked out the back door, having given up hope, I came to the realization that it was dark outside. Somehow though I was sure it was still the middle of the day. I have spent time camping in very remote areas and many of you might rightly call me a hick. I have seen dark before when not even the moon is there to provide some form of light, but this was different. This was in my mind a wicked darkness that had the ability to chill to the bone, almost like a fog. It left a sick feeling in my stomach. I felt cold, however I was damp from sweat and couldn’t see even an inch in front of me. I was alone. I was scared. It probably doesn’t seem odd to you that I knew something was wrong. There are many happenings around me, which I am not aware of, but I knew without doubt, something was amiss.

I stood there all alone. Groping in the air, trying to feel something. I turned in a small circle, trying to return, to the house I had known all my life. I searched my mind for some kind of reason, but all was gone. I thought I heard something. Maybe I was wrong, maybe it was an owl, I don’t know and it never manifested, so I guess it was not important. As I groped in the darkness for something, anything, my mind grasped for sanity. Racing around like greyhounds at a racetrack, chasing an ever, elusive rabbit. I suddenly grasped a thought that only worked to intensify the fear in my already terrified mind. The sins of man had caused the light of the world to turn away and leave this world. My ears were instantaneously flooded with the sound, of groaning crying and loud screams and my mind went wild. I dropped to my knees. My face to the ground and I cried out to Jesus. There I was face down in prayer, my ears being bombarded by the horrible sounds of pain, hoping with all my heart for the light to return, not really understanding what was happening, but surrounded by my fear, but now hearing only my prayer. Then as quickly as it all started the sound of harmonious singing filled my ears. Coming from no where, but from everywhere also. Singing Holy, Holy is God almighty, Holy, Holy is He. I opened my eyes and to my amazement the most beautiful sunrise was lighting up the world. My fear was replaced with peace and love and a joy filled the air.

The voices sang out, worthy is the lamb, worthy of your praise, worthy is the lamb. The light of the world.

    Praise Him

1:1 In the beginning1 was the Word, and the Word was with God,2 and the Word was fully God.3 1:2 The Word4 was with God in the beginning. 1:3 All things were created5 by him, and apart from him not one thing was created6 that has been created.7 1:4 In him was life,8 and the life was the light of mankind.9 1:5 And the light shines on10 in the darkness,11 but12 the darkness has not mastered it.13 John 1:1-5

8:12 Then Jesus spoke out again,20 "I am the light of the world.21 The one who follows me will never22 walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

14:6 Jesus replied,13 "I am the way, and the truth, and the life.14 No one comes to the Father except through me. .John 14:6

    Living the Word

We have said on an occasion or two, that actions speak louder than words. We’ve all heard more than we probably care to remember, do as I say not as I do. The way that we behave is more telling as to the content of our character than are the whitewashed words we send forth into the world. I’m sure many study the Bible, speak the Bible, but do we really live it?

3:1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? We don't need letters of recommendation to you or from you as some other people do, do we?1 3:2 You yourselves are our letter,2 written on our hearts, known and read by everyone, 3:3 revealing3 that you are a letter of Christ, delivered by us,4 written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets5 but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Cor. 3:1-3

Some may never pick up a Bible, never read a verse, but they will read you forward and backward. Looking for that telltale sign, of hypocrisy, hoping to find reason to discredit the hope you have in Christ. You just might be the only Bible someone has the opportunity to read. Will they find Jesus?

    where are you standing?

Where are you in your walk? Do you stand firm on your faith? Are you being still, that you might know He is God? Is your life lead by the Holy Spirit? Or are you stumbling around, looking for a firm place to plant your feet upon worldly convictions?

In 2 Chronicles we see a wonderful story of the Lords deliverance. A story, which we can use to build our hope, steady our faith and strengthen our walk.

    2 Chronicles 20:10-17,24

20:10 Now the Ammonites, Moabites, and men from Mount Seir are coming!20 When Israel came from the land of Egypt, you did not allow them to invade these lands.21 They bypassed them and did not destroy them. 20:11 Look how they are repaying us! They come to drive us out of our allotted land which you assigned to us! 20:12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless against this huge army that attacks us. We don't know what we should do; we look to you for help."22

20:13 All the men of Judah23 were standing before the Lord, along with their infants, wives, and children. 20:14 Then in the midst of the assembly, the Lord's Spirit came upon Jachaziel son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph. 20:15 He said: "Pay attention, all you people of Judah,24 residents of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says to you: 'Don't be afraid and don't panic25 because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but God's. 20:16 Tomorrow march down against them, as26 they come up the Ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the ravine in front of the Desert of Jeruel. 20:17 You will not fight in this battle. Take your positions, stand, and watch the Lord deliver you,27 O Judah and Jerusalem. Don't be afraid and don't panic!28 Tomorrow march out toward them; the Lord is with you!'"

20:24 When the men of Judah42 arrived at the observation post overlooking the desert and looked at43 the huge army, they saw dead bodies on the ground; there were no survivors

You don’t have to fight the enemies of the flesh. It does not have to be your battle. You don’t have to try to defeat worldly desires, greed, lust, envy, revenge on your own power. Take your stand, firm in your faith. Hold your ground upon His will and through the saving grace of Jesus Christ you will be delivered

    A question

I,ve been digging into 1 Chronicles and while going through the geneologies I came across an interesting discovery. It was a discovery to me anyhow.

4:9 Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, for she said, "I experienced pain when I gave birth to him."1 4:10 Jabez called out to the God of Israel, "If only2 you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!"3 God answered his prayer.4

Okay Jabez means pain Got that. Jabez was more honorable than His brothers, got that. Numerous books have been written about this mans faith based onthese two verses, almost to the point of creating a literary empire, got that. Who is he though the only other place the name is listed is 1 Chronicles as the place where the clans of the scribes lived 2:55.

So this guy deserved an honorable mention for his faith but no listing in the actual geneology?

    Who was he?
