    “Preferred Assignments”

    Today I must have had my grump on when I came to work. You see we have what are called “Preferred Assignments” at work. Basically you can choose what assignments you want to have most often, based on seniority. Without going into all the gory details, I was dispatched on a call that should have been assigned to someone else. For some reason I had this feeling of anger and the thought popped into my head, “Why me?” That is William six’s job.
    Well I went anyway. There was no reason arguing with the dispatcher over the radio, and it would be unprofessional too! Then I got to thinking that’s how we react in spiritual matters too. God calls us to do something, and we say “Why me?” too. We grouse and complain it’s not my job, or say, “Why not call Joe? He’s the professional!” It’s best to do what God has called us to do, because we don’t know what Joe has been called to do. Besides God can call any Christian he chooses… He’s the dispatcher!

    SPRING CULTIVATION?

    This morning during Sunday school someone mentioned cultivating, and that was all it took.
    For some reason I imagined how the plants saw things when someone used a cultivator on the garden. I saw a giant one of these coming down the rows and the plants throwing up their arms screaming aaaaaaggggggghhhhh!

    You're probably wondering where this is going. Well I got to thinking we react the same way when God tries to cultivate us. We scream and throw up our hands and beg God to remove the "cultivator" from our lives when He is trying to help us grow by breaking up the hard ground in our lives.

    WEAR YOUR ARMOR

    As I was getting ready for work today I thought how hot and sweaty I was going to get as the spring season progressed into summer.  How confining and uncomfortable the bullet proof vest was. How I wished I didn’t have to put it on. But I realize it is my protection. Just recently one of my co-workers got stabbed repeatedly in the chest with a pen wielded by a psychiatric patient. If he had not been wearing his vest he might have been seriously hurt. The vest protected him from any injury.

     Satan wants us to not wear our armor too. He wants us to be vulnerable to attack by his fiery darts. So don’t take your armor off no matter how uncomfortable, hot and sweaty it makes you. It’s for your protection!

    Ephesians 6:11-18 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

    spring has sprung, FINALLY!

    Tonight while I was out driving around on patrol I came across about a dozen deer in two groups. Since it was so noce I had the window down and heard for the first time this year the sound of peep frogs.
