    Most Like Christ

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death -- even death on a cross! --Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)

We are to be like Jesus.  In His very loving nature, He served others--meeting their needs and comforting them.  It is when we serve and help meet the needs of others--saved and unsaved--that we are most like Christ.

    The Cake No One Ate

A sociologist traveled to Hawaii.  He found himself hungry at what would have been 9 am his time, 3 am Hawaii time.  Searching for somewhere to eat, he came across a bar.  The bartender served him coffee and a donut.

While he ate, in walked some very loud women who worked as prostitutes.

One of the women, Agnes, said, “Tomorrow’s my birthday.”

One of the other women countered, “So what?  You want me to bake you a cake?”

Agnes told her, “Don’t be mean.  No one has ever baked me a cake or thrown me a party.”

The sociologist asked the bartender, “Do they come in here every night?”

“Every night like clockwork,” answered the bartender.

“Why don’t we throw Agnes a party tomorrow night,” proposed the sociologist.

The bartender with the help of his wife and the sociologist threw Agnes a party with balloons, streamers and a banner that read, “Happy Birthday, Agnes.”

When Agnes walked in the next night and the men presented her with the cake, she expressed, “No one has ever baked me a cake.  I don’t want to eat it.  I want to save it.”

She took her cake and left her party.

The sociologist took the opportunity to preach the Gospel about how God loved us so much that while we were yet in our sin, Christ took the judgment for our sins on the Cross.

    Many accepted Christ that night.

God loves us even when we are in our addictions, pride and arrogance.  And He still calls us His own.

The church is not the four walls that we attend every Sunday.  We are the church.  As such, we must reach out to those in need--sinner and saved alike.  Wherever we do, we can be the church--the place of solace and comfort--for someone who desperately needs God.

    His Righteousness Goes Before You

Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps. - Psalm 85:13 (NIV)

You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, if you have accepted Christ and what He did for you by taking the judgment of all of your sins on Himself.

It is His righteousness that goes before you and prepares your way.  God knows what you will encounter in your walk with Him because He can see the past, present and future.

If you listen to Him, He will instruct you on where to go and what to avoid.  Listen to Him and obey.  Then you will encounter less obstacles along the way.

    Our Ultimate Protection

I used to be fearful about everything--the car being stolen in the store parking lot, the house being robbed, people in my family dying, the phone ringing at strange hours of the night, eating.  Anything and everything caused me fear.

I used to do certain rituals every time I would leave the house, leave the car in a parking lot, eat or go to sleep.  I had convinced myself that if I didn’t do the same ritual the same way each time, bad things would happen.

Then God taught me to plead the Blood of Jesus over everything because of its protective powers.  Instead of doing my rituals, I only do one thing.  I plead the Blood over what I wanted protected.

One time I rode in a car with my Mom and her now-former boyfriend.  We drove down a road I traveled every day when I heard the Spirit of God tell me to plead the blood over the car.  I did, and a few seconds later, a car slammed into an utility pole right behind us.

I know that I know that I know that he would have hit us if I had not obeyed God.

Jesus’ shed blood protects us and all that concerns us.  The children of Israel put the blood of a lamb on their door posts.  In the same way, we have to plead the Blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, over everything we are concerned about--from our finances to our kids--because the Blood of Jesus is our Ultimate Protection.

    The Mysteries Of Christ

When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ.- Ephesians 3:4 (AMP)

When we read the Word of God, with the Holy Spirit as our Teacher, we are able to understand more of the mysteries of Christ.  Without the Holy Spirit, we wouldn’t understand them.  With Him, who understands God inside and out, He can and will teach us the mysteries of the Word, giving greater revelation into what God said.  All we have to do is ask Him to.

    Inside Of You

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. - Romans 8: 10 -11.

Christ lives in you, if you have accepted Christ.  He is your redemption, your sanctification, your healing, your prosperity.  Everything you need.  He lives inside you, so you have 24/7 access to everything Christ died for you to have.  All you  have to do is believe it and receive it.

    Succeed Every Time

You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.' - Isaiah 47:10 (NIV).

Everyone of us has trusted in our own efforts, our own wisdom and knowledge, to get us the big promotion, to build our businesses, to obtain the blessings that are freely ours.

When we trust in our own judgment, in what we think we know, we have a false sense of security.  Our efforts will always lead us astray.  From God rather than toward Him.

We should ask God for His advice, His plan and purpose, in every situation.  His plans are always blessed, so when we do things God’s way, we succeed every time.

    People Versus God

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31 (KJV)

Many times  God will tell me to write something in an article or in a blog that is controversial and strong.  I have been tempted many times to water the message down because I know that most Believers don’t believe that way.  Even though it is Biblical sound.

Deep down I feared what people would think.  However when I have a choice between pleasing people and doing God’s will, I’ve learned to obey God.  Not that I always make the right choice.  It isn’t always easy or popular, but it is always worth the temporary discomfort.

    Don't Die Before Your Time

I’ve heard that Solomon never attained long life. I know that he only served as king of Israel for forty years, the same amount of time that his father served as king...and that was without God’s special gift of wisdom.

In Proverbs 3:16, we discover that wisdom has long life in her right hand and riches and honor in her left.

However, in I Kings 3:14, God told Solomon if he followed God’s ways, God would give him long life.

If we read the account of Solomon’s life, we realize that Solomon taxed his people severely and turned away from God.

As we know, Jesus came to fulfill the conditions of the law for us, to fulfill man’s part of the covenant with God. He did this so that we could receive all the benefits of the salvation package. After accepting Christ, we now dwell in the shadow of the Almighty and are entitled to the benefits in Psalm 91, including living until we are satisfied (Psalm 91:16).

If we don’t keep our eyes focused on Jesus and His wisdom (not ours), though, we will never know what Jesus died for us to have. In fact, if we don’t keep our eyes on Jesus and do what He tells us to do, we might die before our time. So keep your eyes on Jesus.

    An Attitude Of The Heart

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. - Psalms 100:4 (KJV).

I meditated on this Scripture yesterday.  God started speaking to me about how thanksgiving is a heart issue.  An attitude of the heart.

He brought me back to the story of the children of Israel while they wandered in the wilderness for forty years.  He told me that they focused on what they didn't have.  They complained about the bitter water and about having no meat.

He explained to me that if they had been thankful for what they did have, God would have been more than happy to supply what they didn't have in His timing, not theirs, without sorrow.

Many of us, including myself, are guilty of complaining about what we don't have and not being thankful for what we do.  The more we are thankful for what we do have, the more our hearts' attitudes will change...and we will find we have every thing we need and a whole lot more.

    Is Your Relationship Stale?

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. - Matthew 10:33 (KJV).

I read recently that Oprah denied Christ, adopting “The New Earth” and “The Secret” philosophies.  Whether it is true, I don't know, but the concept of someone denying Christ is nothing new in this world.

The Bible clearly tells us that if we deny Christ, He will deny us before the Father.

That is why we have to be so careful about our relationship with God.  We need to cultivate it by spending time with God and allowing Him to love on us.

If we don’t have conversations with Him and sit in His presence, our relationship with Him will become stale.

Then we will go from the love and grace of relationship to the rules and regulations of religion, taking God out of the equation altogether.

    He Said That?

Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. - 2 Timothy 2:14 (NIV).

Arguing over mere words is of no value.  Every day we hear people arguing over what he said or she said.  Politicians and lawyers argue over a twist of a phrase. We argue over the words of the Bible.  Judges argue over the words of constitution.  We are always arguing over something someone said.  All of it amounts to nothing.  God says that it ruins the listener.  Whatever we listen to goes into our hearts and eventually comes out of our mouth.  We must be careful what we argue over as well as what we are listening to.

    Promise Or Curse?

This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.  - Jeremiah 17:5

When we turn our hearts away from God, we live under the curse.  We may have accepted Christ and been  redeemed from the curse through Jesus’ shed blood on the cross, but we are still living under the curse.  We believe that is just the way life is.

God’s Word, though, is full of promises that God made  to help His children live the abundant life that Jesus died for us to have.

Keep your heart set on God, and while you may be living in a cursed world, the curse will not be in you.

    Waiting To Help

And now the LORD says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD and my God has been my strength - Isaiah 49:5 (NIV).

We, like Jacob, are honored in the sight of God.  He formed us with His own hands in our mother’s womb.  He is our strength.  The reason we live, breath and move.  Many times we do everything in our own human strength, forgetting that God is just waiting to help us.  When we let Him and rely on His strength, we accomplish things much faster and more efficiently.

    Remembering Our Mistakes

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! - Hebrews 9:14 (NIV)

Jesus’ blood cleanses our consciences of all our sins.  God doesn’t want us to remember them no more because He doesn't.

We think we are being holy by remembering our mistakes but instead we are keeping ourselves in bondage.  If God doesn’t condemn us, why should we?

    My Choice

Sunday night someone I had been praying for died.  I had a decision to make.  I could either continue to believe in God and His promises or I could blame Him.

I know better than to blame Him because He does not kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10).  However sometimes in our frustration, in the heat of the moment, we revert to our old ways of thinking.

    I chose to continue believing.

She had terminal cancer.  She agreed with the doctor’s report.  That report got hold of her.   It settled down on the inside of her until she couldn’t see anything else but death.

Many times we are like that.  We have been in situations so long that we see no way out.  The reports that our senses have given us have sank deep into our hearts.

The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 that whatever you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth you can have.

When the report is in our heart, we begin to speak it.  We agree with it.

Now do you want those bad things you have been believing and speaking to come to pass in your life?  If not, then take hold of what the Word says about your situation instead.   Make the Word of God the final authority in your life.

    Reasoning Aside

And the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it - Isaiah 40:5 (AMP).

The glory of the Lord, His majesty and splendor,  will be revealed.  All mankind shall see it.

God’s glory is prevalent in the earth today, but most people reason away anything they cannot understand.  They see a miracle and reason it away as just a coincidence or a spontaneous occurrence.

When we see miracles, when we see God’s majesty and splendor in the things that God does, such as paying a bill, healing a loved one or in creating the mountains for us to hike, we need to set our reasoning aside and just enjoy what God has done.

    A Way Out

Was it in anger, Lord, that you struck the rivers and parted the sea?  Were you displeased with them?  No, you were sending your chariots of salvation! - Habakkuk 3:8 (New Living Translation)

Was God angry or displeased with His people?  Is that why He struck the rivers and parted the sea?  No!  Instead He sent chariots of salvation to deliver His people.

He loves you that much too.  When you are in trouble, all you have to do is call out.  Then God will make a way for you where there has been no way.

    The Whole Gospel

    Good day my Friends!

How is life going for you?

God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you. - Colossians 1:25 (NLT).

We have the responsibility to proclaim God’s entire message to the people--both saved and unsaved.  The whole message of salvation.  The whole message of redemption of sins and reconciliation to God.  We also need to declare those parts that some believe are unnecessary, such as healing (I Peter 2:24) whole life prosperity (III John 2) and the strengthening of our faith (Romans 10:17).  We have to give people the whole message because the Gospel without the blood, Jesus, the Holy Spirit or the cross is no gospel, no Good News, at all.

    Why Did You...?

    Good day my Friends!

    How is your day going?

How terrible it would be if a newborn baby said to its father,  ‘Why was I born?’ or if it said to its mother, ‘Why did you make me this way?’”  -  Isaiah 45:10  (NLT).

Let’s say you have a baby.  As soon as that baby is able to talk, he turns to you and asks, “Why was I born?  Why did you make me this way?”

You would probably think, “Oh brother!  We are going to have a time with this one.”

We are like that baby.  We all ask God questions such as, “God, why did You create me this way?,” “Why did You create me with blue eyes instead of green?,” “Why did You create me with brown hair instead of blond?,” “Why did You create me to be clumsy and awkward?”

God created us to be exactly who we are.  With the right hair color, eye color, talents, gifts and opportunities.  That is who we are supposed to be.  We are not to be Aunt Sue or Uncle George.  We are supposed to be the person God created us to be.

God thinks you are special just the way you are.  And so do I.

    Boast Of Him

    Good day my Friends!

    How is your day going?

This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches,  but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the LORD.- Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV).

What are you boasting about?  Is it your ability?  Your strength?  In your friends?  Your church?  Your bank account?  Your job?  The only Person worth boasting about is our God and how He has forgiven all our sins, healed all our diseases, redeemed our life from destruction and satisfied our mouth with good things, and that’s only the Old Testament benefits!  If we boast of anything or anyone, let it be our God and His kindness toward us.

Remember God loves you and that you are righteous in Christ Jesus through the blood of Jesus.

    Continually Cleansing

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - I John 1:9 (KJV).

Did you know that I John 1:9 was written to unbelievers?  People who didn’t believe in Christ?  I John 1:9 says that when we confess our sins, we are cleansed of all unrighteousness.  We are only cleansed once of all unrighteousness.  That is when we accept Christ.  After that, Jesus’ blood continually cleanses us of all our sins.  Thank God for the blood.

    The Faith Work-Out

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. - I Peter 5:10 (NIV).

After we have suffered through challenges, God promises to restore us, to make us strong and steadfast.  Challenges are like weights.  The more we work out with weights, the stronger our muscles become.  The more we believe God's Word over what our circumstances dictate, the more we work our faith muscles.  Then the more experience we have with God, the stronger and more steadfast we will become.

    Set To God's Frequency

Their feet run to do evil, and they rush to commit murder. They think only about sinning. Misery and destruction always follow them. - Isaiah 59:7 (NLT).

These people that Isaiah talks about who run to do evil.  It says all they think about is sinning.  Their mind is focused on stealing, killing and destroying.

If this is true, then the opposite must be true.  If we focus on who we are in Christ, on what Jesus did for us, on the Word and what we can do to bless others, that is the direction in which our lives will go.

Where the mind goes, the body follows.  Set your mind on God’s frequency instead of satan’s.  Watch as your mind takes you toward God instead of away from Him.

    It Cannot Be Undone

“From eternity to eternity I am God.  No one can snatch anyone out of my hand.  No one can undo what I have done.” - Isaiah 43:13 (NLT).

Yesterday, I had a bad day.  I dealt with one issue after another.  All people problems.  Some because of my mistakes.  Others I had no control over.

I know God loves me, but sometimes it feels like even He has ganged up against me.   I know that isn’t true, but it feels true sometimes nevertheless.

It is nice to know, according to this Scripture, that no one can snatch me out of God’s hand, that I cannot undo what He has done.

I take comfort in knowing that I can’t make enough mistakes for God to cast me away.

    When We Truly Know

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; - Ephesians 1:7

God’s grace is obtained through Christ.  Through the knowledge that we have the redemption  and forgiveness of sin through Christ’s shed blood.  When we know we are forgiven of our sins, do we sin all the more?  No.  When we truly know that we are forgiven, we don’t want to sin.  Instead we want to live for God all the more.

    Looking Unto Him

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2 (KJV).

We must keep our eyes focused on Jesus.  In Him, we have everything we need.  We have the Best Friend we've always longed for, the Person who died and rose again to save us, the Saviour who loves us more than anyone in the galaxy could.  In Him, we have salvation, redemption, healing, abundance and all our needs met.  Hallelujah!

    On The Way

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,  Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. - Matthew 20:17-19 (KJV).

In these Scriptures, Jesus is on His way to His destiny--the Cross.  The people around Him do not understand what He means about being betrayed, condemned to death or His crucifixion.  Nevertheless, His resurrection.

Many times, in our lives, we are on our way to our place of purpose too.  The people around us don’t understand our dream, that spark that God has place in our hearts, and that’s okay.

The key is to follow Jesus’ example.  Don’t let them distract you.  Just keep moving, as He did, toward your destiny, even if all your friends and family desert you.

God’s opinion is the only opinion that counts.  Not those of your well-meaning friends and family members.  Follow God and leave the consequences to Him.

    I Know He Exists

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. - Psalm 14:1 (KJV).

It is a fool that believes there is no God.

The more people try to disprove the existence of God, the more I know He exists.  Not only from my own experience but because the devil is a liar.

If he is trying to convince people that God doesn’t exist, that means the opposite is true.  The devil knows that God and a relationship with God is a deadly blow to his kingdom.

    Even Before

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. - Isaiah 53:5-6

Wow!  Imagine!  Someone willingly took all our punishment, all our sicknesses, all the effects of the curse for us.  Imagine!  Jesus did this before we were cleaned up.  Before we had it all together (not that I do!).   Before we were presentable.  He loved us before we were even born.  And yet how many times do we take His love for granted?
