Just a simple place for me to put a scripture or two. My plan is to have one here a week or so. I was trying to do one a day, but think I need to go slower. Maybe I'll comment, maybe you will...

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (Acts 17:11)

Test everything. Hold on to the good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Examine what I say, challenge me if I seem wrong, rebuke me if I am way off the mark...

    Truth and Authority

Those of you who now me understand some fundamentals of the way I approach my faith.  I am not perfect, by any standard, but I refuse to stop striving.

Serola, http://members.christiansunite.com/blog.cgi?userid=9990264828633 is starting a study that I think is important.  When she talks about our "little backyard", understand that I see this as completely correct in our way to understand the magnitude of God, Truth, and Authority.  There is an Ultimate Authority, and even some Pagans will accept this if you phrase it thus:

Truth, if you understand it perfectly, stands on its own Authority and Requires no independant Confirmation.  It Just Is!

You and I, if we are Christians, accept that God is Truth.  Truth is not limited by our understanding or lack thereof.  Neither is God.  Understand this about His Nature, and it will answer a lot of questions.  However, even those who do not understand this as fully as we do may understand that Ultimate Truth Does Exist.  If they are searching for that Truth, share what portion you can with them.  They are truely asking for it, whether they know it or not!

Remember how God has described himself to Moses:

14And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!

    Exodus 3:14 (AMP)

    Go in Peace,

    Mel

    It has been a while...

23 "The land must never be sold on a permanent basis, for the land belongs to me. You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working for me.

    Leviticus 25:23 (NLT)

1 Now let me sing to my Well-beloved
A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard:

          My Well-beloved has a vineyard
          On a very fruitful hill.
2 He dug it up and cleared out its stones,
And planted it with the choicest vine.
He built a tower in its midst,
          And also made a winepress in it;
So He expected it to bring forth good grapes,
But it brought forth wild grapes.

    Isaiah 5:1-2 (NKJV)

1 And he began to speak to them in parables. "A man planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a pit for the winepress and built a tower, and leased it to tenants and went into another country.

    Mark 12:1 (English Standard Version)

4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously
           in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    Psalm 45:4 (NIV)

29No one doomed to death [under the claim of divine justice], who is to be completely destroyed from among men, shall be ransomed [from suffering the death penalty]; he shall surely be put to death.

    Leviticus 27:29 (AMP)

I will just leave these here for you to ponder...

Maybe you will see something.  Reading the full parable in Mark is probably good if you are not familiar with it.  Please share!

    In Christ,

    Mel
