    What is truth?

Pilate asked Christ this very question, as he walked away. Was he really wanting an answer, or simply making his displeasure about the whole setup known. My guess would be the latter, but possibly he hoped for a quick defining answer from the King of Kings.

    What is truth?

I’m not sure I am capable of defining, but I’m going to attempt it. Lord help me.

    John 18:37

37Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, You say correctly that I am a King. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into this world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice."

We could say this last part a little differently , Everyone who is on the side of the truth, as some versions have it. So obviously there is more than one side to this story. For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. So if we have truth, we have also lies. There stands beside the reality of truth. The illusion of lies.

God’s word is truth, Satan is the father of lies. I once stated that God created with a word and Satan pulled mankind into a life of sin with a question, but that was not just a simple question, it was imbedded with lies. Lies to make us question God’s word, intended to cause his creators plan to fail and place himself as the ultimate authority. Imagine for a moment all of creation staring on in hushed anticipation, waiting to see how man would respond, only to be disappointed by his poor choice.

    John 8:44 (NASB)

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the begining and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

God is truth. God is the fountainhead of truth and ultimate authority on truth. I have heard people say, the truth is in me, in you, a little here, a little there, so if that is the case is the truth not complete unless the whole is in agreement? No, because God is truth, God is whole without us, God is complete and we have no part in the truth unless we believe the word of God.

    John 1:1(NASB)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I find it interesting to see how definitions of words change over time, let’s pause for a moment and look at Noah Webster"s definition of truth in 1828.

TRUTH- conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be... We rely upon the truth of scriptural prophecies. I’m not going to write out the modern definition, but needless to say it says nothing about scripture, apparently Webster’s work has been ransacked by the blight of modern culture. Look around you to see the cultural drift, cultural world views and Biblical world views are polar opposites of one another.

    Bible                                                                                         Culture

man created in God’s image                                                       Evolution

man is sinful                                                                              Man is basically good

The list goes on and on. Please somebody correct me if I’m mistaken on this point

    John 14:6 (NASB)

6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.

Our culture has been inundated by deceit, disbelief and decay, sin has taken the culture captive and it might be a stretch, but it might be possible to say that every sin enveloping mankind can be traced back to a lie. Have you been taken captive by the culture of sin, bound by Satan’s lies

    John 8:31-32 (NASB)

31So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "

32and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

The truth will make you free. Be free, seek the face of God, search and study the word

    God bless

    The Truth

Okay, thanks everyone for playing along with me on that last one. Let me explain about a year ago I sat in on something from Focus on the family called the truth project. That is where my question came from. Let me take a moment to add, anyone who has not taken part in this program should. Maybe you could convince your church to put it on. My new interest comes from the fact I am going to be leading a group through it next month,so i got out the dvds and started watching it again. This is a 12 week program and is well worth the time it takes. So do we want to know what I was looking for? Check out John 18:37 and now maybe to follow Pilates process What is truth?

    God bless all

    A question

Hello all, Hope everyone is well. I have a question to ask my fellow theologians. After I read responses I will say where the question came from, but for now just know many answers are probably just as correct as others, but I am looking to see how many come up with a particular response. That said, Here we go. Why did Jesus Christ come to this world?

    Dusty shoes

I showered and shaved.............. I adjusted my tie.

I got there and sat.............. In a pew just in time.

Bowing my head in prayer......... As I closed my eyes.

I saw the shoe of the man next to me..... Touching my own. I sighed.

With plenty of room on either side...... I thought,

     "Why must our soles touch?"

It bothered me, his shoe touching mine... But it didn't bother him much.

A prayer began: "Our Father"............. I thought, "This man with the shoes.. has no pride.

They're dusty, worn, and scratched. Even worse, there are holes on the side!"

"Thank You for blessings," the prayer went on.

The shoe man said............... a quiet "Amen."

I tried to focus on the prayer....... But my thoughts were on his shoes again

Aren't we supposed to look our best.. When walking through that door?

"Well, this certainly isn't it," I thought, Glancing toward the floor.

Then the prayer was ended............ And the songs of praise began.

The shoe man was certainly loud...... Sounding proud as he sang.

His voice lifted the rafters......... His hands were raised high.

The Lord could surely hear.. The shoe man's voice from the sky.

It was time for the offering......... And what I threw in was steep.

I watched as the shoe man reached.... Into his pockets so deep.

I saw what was pulled out............ What the shoe man put in.

Then I heard a soft "clink" . as when silver hits tin.

The sermon really bored me......... To tears, and that's no lie

It was the same for the shoe man..... For tears fell from his eyes.

At the end of the service........ As is the custom here

We must greet new visitors.. And show them all good cheer.

But I felt moved somehow............ And wanted to meet the shoe man

So after the closing prayer.......... I reached over and shook his hand.

He was old and his skin was dark..... And his hair was truly a mess

But I thanked him for coming........ For being our guest.

He said, "My names' Charlie.......... I'm glad to meet you, my friend."

There were tears in his eyes......... But he had a large, wide grin

"Let me explain," he said........... Wiping tears from his eyes.

"I've been coming here for months.... And you're the first to say 'Hi.'"

"I know that my appearance........."Is not like all the rest

"But I really do try................."To always look my best."

"I always clean and polish my shoes.."Before my very long walk.

"But by the time I get here........."They're dirty and dusty, like chalk."

My heart filled with pain............ and I swallowed to hide my tears

As he continued to apologize......... For daring to sit so near.

He said, "When I get here..........."I know I must look a sight.

"But I thought if I could touch you.."Then maybe our souls might unite."

I was silent for a moment............ Knowing whatever was said

Would pale in comparison... I spoke from my heart, not my head.

    "Oh, you've touched me," I said......"And taught me, in part;

"That the best of any man............"Is what is found in his heart."

The rest, I thought,................. This shoe man will never know.

Like just how thankful I really am... That his dirty old shoe touched my soul

Not sure who the author of this is but i like it.

    God bless

Is Christianity being forced on America?

I just saw a thing on tv, that in itself should make me ask questions about the validity of this whole thing. A author named Michael Weinstein don't remember the name of his book, was saying that the United states is forcing the military to implement Christianity as th prescribed religion. He went further to basically state that the U.S has a anti semitic history and forces within the Government ruling heiarchy, a group of dominion christianity that realy runs our Government here are ready to take us to world war to ensure the progression of Christianity in the world. The way he explained it anything was possible to ensure the spread of Christianity in the world and Christians are the real terrorists today.I have to look at myself to reason this idea out and I don't find ant hate directed at the jewish community, that is the foundation of what i believe Idon't see a reason for the Government to push my religion, that is a matter of faith. I don't see my government pushing my religious beliefs instead i see just the opposite. granted if you look at what catholics ,Judaism could be eliminated, but we are not all Mel Gibson and I believe any group that is willing to let the Government spread the word of God by force is not Christian. Let me ask this why does the media let unreasonable views of christianity be spread as the normal train of thought? Give God the glory. it is His and always will be.

    God bless
